So if you’ve never been to Dallas and wondering what the dining scene is like, i can give you some tips on what to expect…patios, dogs, and BRUNCH!! Dallas does brunch rain or shine! Every Saturday and Sunday the patios are packed, the mimosas are flowin’, and the french toast creativity is at an all time high. If you’re a restaurant owner and trying to keep your doors open, you better believe its MANDATORY for your establishment to have a brunch menu, otherwise you mine as well stay closed on the weekends. The competition for who has the best brunch is a close race, (a journey I’m not sure i will ever complete since there is constantly a new restaurant opening every time i turn the corner) but I’m on the quest to weed out the average and find the extravagant!!! ( its a tough job eating all this brunch, but someones gotta do it)
Brunch is one of those things that just makes you feel good, you feel chic saying your going to brunch, you automatically want to throw on your cutest daytime outfit, and its an excuse to day drink! ( in case you were looking for one) So far I’ve had some really great brunch experiences with some even better outfits! Even if you don’t live in the Dallas area, brunch fashion is a thing of its own and can be matched to almost any brunch spot. Follow my brunch journey to hear about the fashion, creative food, craft cocktails, and AWSOME vibes!! ( DUH!!! I told you there would be day drinking involved)
Nestled in the Harwood District of Dallas, Mercat Bistro, is an adorable french inspired bistro with inside/ outside seating. Intimate, and romantic vibes as soon as you walk in. Friendly service and french inspired entrees. I opted to wear fringed denim and an oversized long sleeve shirt. To spice up the simple yet comfortable outfit i threw on a pair of my favorite zara lace up heels!
Cute, casual spot with a large outside patio, Bread Winners is not only an incredible place for brunch, its actually a really good bakery as well. To start you get a select few pieces of different muffins they freshly baked. I almost ALWAYS get the farmhouse tacos, but everything I’ve seen come out looks great…( especially the chicken and waffles) The inside atmosphere feels like a New Orleans style cafe, and the service is exceptional! Definitely a go to spot in the brunch game!
Common Table was one of the first brunch spots i tried when i moved to Dallas. With its huge outside patio ( told you Dallas had a ton of patios), Umbrellas and outside TV’s it was an easy choice. On Saturday and Sunday they offer a ‘hip hop brunch” with 90’s hip hop and really chill vibes. Fresh farm to table ingredients and a super friendly staff makes for the best outside brunch experience.
Okay as if this place didn’t blow me out of the water with their BBQ, they really took the cake with their brunch. 18th&Vine not only provides an innovative take on brunch and BBQ, but they also take BBQ to another level with their cocktails. Smoked bloody mary’s, smoked simple syrup in cocktails, puts a modern twist on some classic brunch cocktails. Oh and did i mention they have live jazz music? Such a cute intimate vibe with a staff that makes you feel like your at home!
Speaking of unique takes on brunch Top Knot, takes an asian flare to their brunch menu. Only open for brunch they have perfected a small menu of some of the most unique dishes i have ever seen. My favorite is the shrimp and grits! Cute brightly lit resturant with chic wooden decor, top knot is the perfect spot to look your best and eat the best!
My journey continues this weekend with a DJ brunch! Can’t wait to try this trendy upscale brunch has to offer!!!
