Gastropubs; New Wave of Fine Dining.

The term GASTROPUB is not really that inciting to me if we’re being completely honest (I automatically want to associate it with something in your stomach). Contrary to how i feel about the word, my feelings towards the style of dinning couldn’t be more opposite. Gastro pubs started in 1991 in London England, where pubs are extremely popular. Generally they are known to have great beer, and a scarce food menu to keep you sober enough to keep drinking (if that makes sense). The Gastro Pub was introduced because fine dining and drinking started to become a hand and hand activity and expectations were set high.  Fast forward to 2017 and I can step outside my front door and hit about 5 gastro pubs with a rock. Upscale food andddddd a great bar atmosphere? Why the hell not? With all the competition for the best bar and kitchen, The Meddlesome Moth stands out amongst them!

Meddlesome Moth in the design district of Dallas Tx, has truly perfected the role of the Gastro Pub. Serving great traditional British “pub grub”, out of a scratch kitchen, and some of the finest beers in the world on tap, it is really no wondering why they have had such great success in this highly competitive market.

The interior of the establishment is dimly lit with stained glass windows, and a brightly lit patio. It was a beautiful day when we went so naturally the patio was packed, so the hostess sat us right by the window of the kitchen. The decor can be described as funky and sleek creating a mysterious kind of vibe. A large cozy looking bar with a chalkboard of all of the beers available, give a very “local/divey” type of atmosphere.

Besides this being a “beer-geek’s” heaven…the kitchen is what makes this place extraordinary to me. Chef Chad Kelley puts a spin on classic British dishes such as fish and chips, shin beef ,and a variety of different types of muscles, and created a masterpiece of a menu.

Although we were a bit casual because we were having lunch, there were a lot of business people conducting meetings, and according to the server, at dinner time the fashion is to your discretion. We were informed that people come in casual after sporting events,or all done up in their little black dresses hosting their birthday dinner. Neither of which feel out of place. The attire is as versatile as the environment. Its a pub with fine dinning food.

If your anything like me, that does not narrow anything down as far as what I should wear (to many options). But before you freak out….thats what were here for! Below is the range of most casual I would be there to the most dressy for both day and night!

Daytime

This is a range of the most casual to the most formal I would wear during the daytime (unless of course I’m conducting some type of meeting in which case I would be wearing my power suit..duh) Anything in between and you will feel completely comfortable!

Evening

This is a range of the most casual I would wear at night (you can opt for flats if you would like) and the most formal!!! Either way you go, have the confidence to know that you showed up dressed to kill!
